About Douglas County
Douglas County was named for political leader Stephen A. Douglas at times nicknamed "dougco". Douglas County is one of 64 counties in Colorado. County population was 263,621 in 2006. located midway between Colorado's two largest cities: Denver and Colorado Springs. Today, Douglas County is virtually the geographic center of Colorado. The County is approximately 844 square miles, 71 square miles of which are permanently protected land through the Douglas County Open Space Program. Recreational areas include more than 146,000 acres of Pike National Forest, Roxborough State Park, Castlewood Canyon State Park and the Chatfield State Recreation Area.

Towns and Citites in Doulgas County
Castle Rock, being the county seat has a population of 28,800 residents and is located 30 miles south of downtown Denver. Castle Rock has a diverse mixture of housing ranging from historic homes to tract housing and modern custom properties. Maintinence free living patio homes from $300,000's to the $800,000's. Prices for single-family homes range from $150,000 for tract housing to over $3 million for custom homes.
Parker and Franktown just down the street can't be beat on the eastern side of Douglas County, offering many different communities and life-styles. A small town feel, although becoming popular still has all the charm.
